Precipitation in coastal sectors and mountains of the Pacific during this morning
September 09, 2021
Diagnosis: The unstable conditions persist in the country as a result of the Intertropical Convergence Zone, which is favoring the presence of downpours with tunderstorms located in coastal sectors of the Pacific slope. More specifically in the surroundings of Quepos, Parrita, Jacó, as well as sectors of the Gulf and the Nicoya Peninsula.
Forecast: During the rest of the early morning and early hours of the morning, variable intensity rains are expected with downpours and the probability of a localized electrical storm, in coastal and mountainous sectors of the Central and South Pacific, towards the Nicoya Peninsula and western sectors North Pacific. Possible The estimated amounts will be between 10-40 mm.
The analyzes indicate that in the next 3 days very strong rainy episodes will continue to be registered, which can generate accumulated over 100 mm in a specific way, being in regions of the Pacific and Northern Zone where the probability is higher.
Warning: Due to recent rains, high levels of soil saturation are maintained in the South Pacific, Central Pacific coasts, North Zone, Nicoya Peninsula and Central Valley can generate the rapid increase in the flow of rivers and in unstable areas with a high propensity to landslides.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
• Caution in areas of vulnerability to flooding due to sewerage saturation and stream overflow.
• Precaution against electrical storms and it is recommended to seek shelter in a safe place in case of strong gusts of wind present or perceived near the storm clouds, due to the possibility of falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
