Rainy conditions persist in some sectors of the Pacific

Diagnosis: A very active Intertropical Convergence Zone close to the country, maintains rainy conditions in some sectors of the Pacific of the national territory. Among the most important accumulated in the last hours are: Herradura with 57mm, Liberia with 42mm and Osa with 30mm.
 
Forecast: During the rest of the night and early morning, rains of variable intensity are expected with downpours and the probability of a thunderstorm in a timely manner, in coastal sectors of the Pacific, Guanacaste and around the Gulf and the Nicoya Peninsula. Amounts between 10-50 mm are estimated, with possible larger amounts on a specific basis.
 
The analyzes indicate that in the next 2 days very strong rainy episodes will continue to be recorded, which can generate accumulated over 100 mm in a specific way, being in regions of the Pacific and North Zone where the probability is higher.
 
Warning: Due to recent rains, high levels of soil saturation are maintained in the South Pacific, Central Pacific coasts, North Zone, Nicoya Peninsula and Central Valley can generate the rapid increase in the flow of rivers and in unstable areas with a high propensity to landslides.
 
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
 
• Caution in areas of vulnerability to flooding due to sewerage saturation and stream overflow.
• Precaution against electrical storms and it is recommended to seek shelter in a safe place in case of strong gusts of wind present or perceived near the storm clouds, due to the possibility of falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
