Rainy and electric activity this afternoon -Upgrade-
September 27, 2020
Discussion: The warm morning temperatures and the incursion of humidity from the Pacific Ocean have generated cloudy developments in the early hours of the afternoon and, in turn, heavy downpours and electrical storms in regions of the Central Valley, Pacific, North Zone and mountains of the Caribbean. The most intense precipitations have been manifested in the South Pacific and the Metropolitan Area with accumulated between 20-45 mm in the last two hours.
Forecast: In the remainder of the afternoon the rainy activity of variable intensity will continue and downpours with electrical storms in the Pacific, Central Valley and North Zone regions, amounts are estimated between 30-60 mm, more accumulated are possible in a specific way. In addition, isolated rains with storms are expected in the mountains of the Caribbean, amounts estimated between 20-40 mm.
During the first hours of the night the rains will continue, especially in coastal areas of the Pacific, amounts between 20-40 mm.
Warning: Special attention due to the high percentage of soil saturation in the Central and South Pacific, Nicoya Peninsula and North Zone.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
- Take shelter in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
