Heavy downpours to continue in the South Pacific
April 01, 2020
Discussion: The high temperatures recorded this morning and the entry of humidity from the Pacific Ocean, generated strong isolated showers this afternoon, accompanied by an electrical storm in different sectors of the Central and South Pacific, as well as in the Central Valley. The highest accumulations are being recorded in the South Pacific with peaks between 50-70 mm in the last 2 hours.
Forecast: It is estimated that rainy and electric activity will continue until the early hours of the night, particularly in the South Pacific, amounts between 25-50 mm are expected. While in the Central Valley and Central Pacific there will be isolated rainy activity with a tendency to decrease in the following two hours, accumulated between 10-30 mm. For the rest of the country no significant rains are foreseen.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewerage saturation, especially in regions of the South Pacific before the rains of the last hours.
- Take refuge in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceiving strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as precaution for possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others.
