Diagnosis: The Intertropical Convergence Zone is located on the country, thus favoring the entry of moisture into the national territory from maritime sectors, which will lead to the occurrence of downpours in several areas of the country. In addition to this, the passage of the tropical wave # 2 increases the atmospheric instability situation that will be reinforcing the intensity of the precipitations in the next hours; The effect of this tropical wave will be contingent on this Friday only.
Forecast: During this afternoon and in the early hours of the night, precipitations are expected isolated but strong with thunderstorm towards the North Pacific and Central Valley, with amounts between 20-50 mm in periods of 6 hours (possible higher amounts of localized way ); particularly the areas with greater possibility of heavy downpours are expected in the Valley of the Tempisque and Gulf of Nicoya, towards the west of the peninsula scattered rains of less intensity are foreseen, likewise, in sectors of the center and east of the Central Valley are expected showers with a stormDuring the same period, showers with thunderstorms are anticipated for the South Pacific and mountainous areas of the Central Pacific, with amounts between 40-70 mm in 6-hour lapses.
For the North Zone and mountains of the Caribbean are forecast this afternoon isolated rain accompanied by electrical storm in a localized manner, with amounts between 10-40 mm in lapses of 6 hours, in these regions could also generate higher amounts of precipitation in a timely manner.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:Caution in areas with vulnerability to flooding due to saturation of sewers, increased flow in rivers and streams and sectors with high propensity to landslide.
Shelter in a safe place in case of listening to thunderstorm or perceive strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as caution for possible fall of tree branches, power lines among others.
