Showers and thunderstorm in the afternoon and early evening
June 08, 2019.
Discussion: Local factors such as warm morning temperatures which at this time exceed 25 ° C in the Central Valley and are higher in coastal areas, as well as the entry of sea breezes; they propitiate the development of cloudiness and the occurrence of precipitations of variable intensity during the afternoon and the first hours of the night.
Forecast: For the afternoon and during the first part of the night period, showers and downpours accompanied by an electrical storm are foreseen in the Pacific and Central Valley regions, with amounts between 25-50 mm in periods of 3-6 hours. In the North Zone and mountains of the Caribbean rain and isolated showers with thunderstorms are expected, accumulated between 10-40 mm in lapses of 3-6 hours.
Warning: Special attention in: Route 1 -passing Cambronero-, Route 2 -passing Cerro de la Muerte, Pérez Zeledón, km 235-, Route 126 -passing Vara Blanca-, Route 4 -passing Muelle San Carlos- .
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution in areas with vulnerability to flooding due to saturation of sewers, increased flow in rivers and streams and sectors with high propensity to landslide.
- Shelter in a safe place in case of listening to thunderstorm or perceive strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as caution for possible fall of tree branches, power lines among others.
