Intermittent rains during the afternoon and evening in the country
June 10, 2019.
Diagnosis: The Intertropical Convergence Zone is located above the country, in addition, the increase in atmospheric humidity as a result of the proximity of tropical wave # 3 located on Panama are factors that favor the increase in afternoon rains.
Forecast: In the morning there will be some isolated rains on the Caribbean coast with amounts between 1-15 mm. During the afternoon, the entry of moisture from the Caribbean will favor rainy conditions only in sectors such as the Central and South Pacific with rainfall amounts accumulated between 10-50 mm in periods of 3 hours
During the end of this afternoon and early in the evening, intermittent precipitation is expected with a thunderstorm in the Pacific and the Central Valley, mainly due to diurnal heating, with amounts between 10-40 mm in periods of 12 hours (and possible higher amounts in a localized way).
To maintain the speed the tropical wave # 3 foresees the entrance during the first hours of the night to the national territory, nevertheless, this income will favor mainly to a reinforcement of the rainy activity during the night of today and dawn of Tuesday in the Caribbean and Tuesday afternoon in the Pacific.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
Caution in areas with vulnerability to flooding due to saturation of sewers, increased flow in rivers and streams and sectors with high propensity to landslide.
Shelter in a safe place in case of listening to thunderstorm or perceive strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as caution for possible fall of tree branches, power lines among others.
