Weather Warning

Rainy conditions on this Wednesday

April 29, 2020
10.00 a.m.

Discussion: The proximity of the Intertropical Convergence Zone is generating humid and unstable atmospheric conditions, conducive to the occurrence of precipitation. From early in the morning, cloud cover is present in the Caribbean and the North Zone, where isolated rains with amounts of less than 10 mm also appear. In addition, cloud cores approach the South Pacific causing isolated showers.

Forecast: During the rest of the morning, isolated rains and showers will be maintained with a possible electrical storm in the Caribbean and the Northern Zone, which tend to decrease in the course of the afternoon, amounts between 20-40 mm are estimated.

In the Central and South Pacific, rainfall will occur around noon and will continue during the afternoon and early evening, the rains will be accompanied by a thunderstorm, accumulated estimates between 25-50 mm. For its part, in the Central Valley and the Nicoya Peninsula, showers and showers with isolated thunderstorms are expected, mainly in the afternoon, amounts between 10-30 mm.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

  • Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewerage saturation.
  • Take refuge in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceiving strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as precaution for possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others.
