IMN-060319-Empuje frío N°20 continúa acelerando el viento sobre el país
Cold thrust No. 20 continues to accelerate the wind over the country
March 6, 2019
Diagnosis: The cold thrust number 20 made its entry to the north of the Caribbean Sea on the morning of this Wednesday generating an even greater increase in atmospheric pressure; consequently the windy pattern over the country is being reinforced, mainly in the regions of the North Pacific and the Central Valley. The most significant gusts recorded since midnight and until 9:30 am this day have been 73 km / h in Liberia, 86 km / h in the Orosi volcano and 85 km / h in the Cruz, all in Guanacaste; while for the Central Valley: 63.4 km / h in Alajuela, 65.6 km / h in Pavas, 61.4 km / h in Santa Bárbara, 52.7 km / h in San José and 53.4 km / h in Cartago. In addition, during the first 6 hours of this morning there were some isolated drizzles in the mountainous sectors of the Caribbean slope and north-east of the Central Valley.
Forecast: The intensity of the wind will continue to increase during the course of the day, with maximum gusts of 70-100 km / h in the Guanacaste region and 60-90 km / h in the Central Valley.Regarding the rains, during the afternoon drizzles and weak isolated rains are predicted on the mountains of the Central Valley and surrounding sectors, while during the night of today and early morning of the morning, isolated precipitations are anticipated in the regions of the Caribbean and Northern Zone. .
On the other hand, due to the increase in wind, a less hot day is forecast with maximum temperatures that can be around 24-29 ° C in the Central Valley and 33-36 ° C for coastal areas.Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Extreme precautions for intense winds and their possible impact on roofs, electrical wiring, signs, trees; as well as in the mountainous parts of the country (national parks, volcanoes).
- Also, take precautions for the boats by sharp sea and strong waves in the North Pacific and the Gulf of Nicoya, as well as the aerial navigation by turbulence on the mountainous sectors.
- Extreme caution -at the aeronautical level- due to strong turbulence over the mountainous sectors in Guanacaste and the Central Valley
- Avoid burning of all kinds as they can get out of control.
