Downpours and thunderstorms in the Central and South Pacific during the afternoon

Discussion: Local factors such as warm morning temperatures, which have reached maximums between 26 ° C - 31 ° C in GAM and higher in coastal areas and plains, as well as the entry of sea breezes; they are determining factors for the development of cloudiness and the occurrence of precipitation.
Forecast: During the afternoon of this day, isolated showers and thunderstorms are predicted in the Central and South Pacific accumulated between 20-40 mm in 6-hour lapses. Also, in a more isolated manner, showers are possible in the Central Valley and the Nicoya Peninsula with amounts between 5-20 mm in 6 hours. In the mountainous sectors of the Caribbean and North Zone there is possibility of light rain ending the evening period, amounts between 1-5 mm.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution in areas with vulnerability to flooding due to sewer saturation.
- Shelter in a safe place in case of hearing thunderstorm or perceive strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as caution for possible fall of tree branches, power lines among others.
