Rains of variable intensity in the afternoon and evening
October 2, 2022
Discussion: The Intertropical Convergence Zone, very close to the national territory, generates an important contribution of humidity and instability, a situation that generates an ideal environment for the occurrence of precipitation during this afternoon and part of the night.
Forecast: The rains will be of variable intensity and will be present in the Pacific, North Zone, Central Valley, as well as in mountainous areas of the Caribbean; however, the strongest concentrations are estimated to be concentrated in the North Zone, adjoining sectors to the north and south of the Central Valley, North Pacific and high parts of the Central Pacific -including the Los Santos Zone and surroundings-; accumulated between 30-60 mm and possible higher amounts in a localized manner.
In the first part of the night period, rains will persist in the North Pacific and North Zone, as well as in the western and southern sectors of the Central Valley, accumulated between 25-50 mm. In addition, fog banks are possible in the mountain ranges and surroundings.
Warning: Soil saturation levels remain very high throughout the North Pacific, Central Valley, North Zone, Central and South Pacific, making them extremely vulnerable sectors. Caution is recommended in the event of possible incidents due to landslides or floods on Routes 1, 2 and Route 27.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution for sewage saturation and possible flash floods.
- Prevention before an electrical storm and seek shelter in a safe place in case of strong gusts of wind appearing or being perceived near storm clouds, due to the possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others.
