Veranillo de San Juan

A summer is a dry period of variable duration that occurs in the middle of the rainy season. It receives this name (summer or short summer) because there are dry and sunny days (or with very little rain), that is, conditions similar to those of the dry season develop, but for a few days or a few weeks. In the particular case of the "Veranillo de San Juan" it is only perceived in the North Pacific and the Central Valley, with a duration of 3 to 6 days. Historical data show that each year there is a 60% probability that this summer will occur, but only 15% that it is of strong intensity (7 or more consecutive dry days) and a normal 30% (3-6 days ). It is the first of the year and that name was given to it since it usually occurs around June 24, which according to Catholic saints celebrates the date of Saint John the Baptist.

According to the forecast of global dynamic models, in this month of June the summer of San Juan would appear approximately between the 19th and the 26th.
