Cold push # 22 maintains strong winds condition
The cold thrust # 22 maintains atmospheric conditions that cause an acceleration of the wind over the country. According to the records, up to 10:30 am today, maximum gusts of 100 km / h have been reported in the high areas of Guanacaste and up to 70 km / h in the Central Valley.
It is expected that this condition prevails all day, with gusts that would reach 80-110 km / h in the mountains of Guanacaste and, between 50-70 km / h, in the low areas. In addition, for the Central Valley would be around 50-75 km / h.
Also, isolated precipitations are foreseen in the Caribbean and North Zone, with maximum accumulated of 5-20 mm, as well as in the mountainous areas of the Central and South Pacific during the afternoon. No significant rainfall is anticipated for the Central and North Pacific Valleys.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
• Caution due to strong winds and possible impact on roofs, electrical wiring, signs, trees; as well as in the mountainous parts of the country (national parks, volcanoes).
• Prevention of ships by sharp sea and strong waves in the North Pacific and the Gulf of Nicoya, as well as air navigation due to turbulence in the mountainous sectors.
