Weekly outlook

From May 2nd to 8th, 2024

General Review

During this period, the trade winds will remain weak, allowing the entry of sea breezes towards the Pacific slope. Furthermore, the Intertropical Convergence Zone remains close to our territory. However, the water content in the atmosphere varies.

The precipitable water content will gradually decrease between Thursday and Saturday. However, sufficient humidity still persists towards the Central Pacific and South Pacific due to the proximity of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). During this period, in the Central Pacific and South Pacific there will be short-lived downpours with the possibility of thunderstorms, these will occur in an isolated/dispersed manner during the afternoons. In the Central Valley and the southeast of the North Pacific, occasional and isolated rains may occur during the afternoons. In sectors of the Northern Zone and the Caribbean, no precipitation is expected between Thursday and Saturday.

Starting on Sunday, the water content in the atmosphere is expected to increase, resulting in more distributed rainfall. During the afternoons, there may be showers with scattered thunderstorms in the Central Pacific and South Pacific, extending into the early hours of the night. These rains may occur in the southeast of the North Pacific, Central Valley and mountains south of the Northern Zone, however, in an isolated/dispersed manner. In the Caribbean, isolated and less intense rains could occur in mountainous sectors.

Tropical wave number 2 continues to move from the east, its entry into the national territory is not expected within this period.
