Formation of low pressure system in the middle of the week with cyclonic potential

Diagnosis: There is a possibility of the formation of a low pressure system in the Southwest of the Caribbean Sea in the middle of the week, near Southwest Central America. According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), as this happens, a gradual development of this system is possible towards the second part of the week, with the possibility of forming a tropical cyclone that at the same time will be moving in the direction to the Northeast, moving away from the region.

The possibility of developing a tropical cyclone is 0% in 48 hours and 70% within seven days (high possibility).

Forecast: Current analyzes and numerical models show very high uncertainty. However, given the possible formation and proximity of low pressure, it may cause interaction with the Intertropical Convergence Zone and induce a flow of humidity from the Pacific Ocean towards the national territory in the middle of the week, generating rains of varying intensity, particularly towards regions of the Pacific and can extend to other sectors of the country to a lesser extent. The above will depend on the evolution of this possible system. The IMN maintains strict uninterrupted surveillance and will immediately update information on the possible formation of this phenomenon and its eventual effects in Costa Rica.
