Weather Warning
July 27, 2020
10.30 a.m.
Discussion: Various factors will generate optimal conditions for the occurrence of rain and downpours accompanied by thunderstorms during the afternoon and early evening at various points in the national territory, which are the proximity of the Intertropical Convergence Zone, the warm morning temperatures and the entry of sea breezes.
Forecast: In the afternoon, cloudy developments and rain of variable intensity are expected, showers with electrical storms in the regions of the Pacific, North Zone, Central Valley; accumulated from 40-60 mm, higher amounts of isolated character are possible. On the other hand, in the Caribbean, rains are estimated in the mountainous sectors with accumulated between 10-30 mm.
In the early hours of the night, moderate rains will be maintained in the Pacific -especially coastal areas-, as well as in the North Zone with amounts between 20-40 mm. In the Central Valley scattered light rains are possible.
Warning: Considerable soil saturation is maintained in sectors of the North and South Pacific, as well as in the North Zone; therefore, special attention is requested.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to increased flow in rivers and streams.
- Take refuge in a safe place in case of listening to a thunderstorm or perceiving strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as caution for possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
