Meteorological Warning

Rainy activity this Friday

may 15, 2020
10:15 am

Diagnosis: The high temperatures registered this morning, together with the entry of humidity from the Pacific Ocean, are factors that have contributed to generating unstable atmospheric conditions in the country.

Forecast: For this afternoon and early evening, showers and showers with thunderstorms are expected in the Central and South Pacific. For its part, in the Central Valley, Nicoya Peninsula, as well as in mountainous sectors of the Northern Zone, isolated showers and localized storms are expected.

No significant rainfall is expected for the coastal areas of the Caribbean, while isolated rains with the possibility of occasional storms are expected in the mountainous parts.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

  •     Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
  •     Take refuge in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceiving strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as precaution for possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others.
  •     Stay informed through social networks, Twitter: @IMNCR, Facebook: Instituto Meteorológico Nacional CR and the WEB page: www.imn.ac.cr
