Isolated showers but accompanied by a strong electrical storm for this afternoon

Diagnosis: Today, Monday, the local factors of warm temperatures and contributions of humidity from maritime sectors will be causing showers accompanied by an isolated but strong electrical storm for today's afternoon.

Forecast: Showers accompanied by scattered to isolated electrical storms are expected for the afternoon in mountainous sectors of the South and Central Pacific, the Nicoya Peninsula and towards the center-west of the Central Valley. The estimated accumulated will be isolated, but no less important. They will be 30 – 50 mm, with maximum props of 70 mm. For the North Zone there will be variable rains on the mountains with amounts less than 40 mm, while for the Caribbean regions the rains will be concentrated on the mountainous sectors of the west, with amounts between 20 - 45 mm.

Warning: High levels of saturation persist in the soils of the mountainous regions of the North Pacific and Central and South Pacific, as well as sectors of the western North Caribbean region.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

• Caution due to sewage saturation and possible sudden flooding.

• Prevention before an electrical storm and seek refuge in a safe place in the event of strong gusts of wind appearing or being perceived near storm clouds, due to the possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others.
