Aviso Meteorológico

Fuertes lluvias vespertinas en la vertiente del Pacífico, Valle Central y Zona Norte

10 de junio de 2021
10.30 a.m.

Diagnosis: the proximity of the Intertropical Convergence Zone, the weakness of the trade winds, coupled with the high temperatures recorded during the morning, are factors that favor the afternoon rainy conditions. Forecast: during the afternoon rainfall of variable intensity is expected in the Central Valley and mountainous sectors of the North Pacific with estimated amounts between 15 mm and 65 mm.

Part of these rains will be spreading to the regions of the North Zone and the North Caribbean, where the estimated amounts are between 20mm and 60mm on a specific basis. In the regions of the Central Pacific and the South Pacific, rainfall will be isolated, although intense, with amounts estimated between 30 mm and 80 mm. The coastal Caribbean will have very little rainfall.

The rains will extend into the early hours of the night in the aforementioned regions.

Warning: Special attention in the Central Valley due to sewer flooding; and on the Pacific slope due to high levels of soil saturation.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

• Precaution for sewerage saturation in the Central Valley (GAM).

• Caution on the road due to reduced visibility on: Route 1 in the North Pacific, Route 27 in the Central Valley, Route 34 in the Central Pacific and Route 4 in the North Zone.

• Prevention against thunderstorms and seek shelter in a safe place in the event of strong gusts of wind present or perceived near the storm clouds, due to the possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others.
