Weather Warning
Favorable conditions for rains this afternoon in the Pacific and Central Valley regions
September 24, 2022
1 p.m.
Diagnosis: The constant inflow of humidity from the maritime sectors and the high temperatures in the morning have favored the evaporation process and with it, the formation of clouds. At this time, the country's mountain ranges are the places where cloudiness is concentrated.
Forecast: For this afternoon, showers with thunderstorms are expected in the Central Valley, concentrated in the mountains to the north and east of the region. The estimated amounts will be between 20 mm and 40 mm with maximum amounts of up to 50 mm at times. Part of this rainfall will reach the mountains of the Northern Zone.
In the South Pacific and Central Pacific regions, rains are expected from mid-afternoon to early evening, with estimated amounts between 40-60 mm and occasional maximums of 80 mm in 12 hours.
Finally, in the North Pacific, rainfall will be isolated, but near the mountain range, with amounts between 40-80 mm. Meanwhile, in the Caribbean there will be occasional showers along the mountains.
Warning: High saturation levels in soils are maintained in the Northern Zone, in addition to the mountainous parts in the eastern Central Valley, Central Pacific and South. Caution is recommended in case of possible landslides or floods.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution for sewer saturation and possible flash floods.
- Prevent thunderstorms and seek shelter in a safe place in case of strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, due to the possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others.
