Weak indirect influence of Tropical Storm Julia remains in the Pacific
October 10, 2022
06:00 a.m
Diagnosis: The displacement of Tropical Storm Julia towards the north of Central America, with a speed of 24 km/h and maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h, is confining all the instability and humidity to that region, gradually reducing the indirect effects on our country. Despite this, highly localized variable rainfall persists over sectors of the Pacific slope. In the last 6 hours the amounts have decreased considerably. In the North Pacific, amounts between 10-25 mm are recorded, while the Central and South Pacific recorded amounts of less than 15 mm. On the other hand, in the other regions there were no significant precipitations.
Forecast: A weak indirect influence of the tropical cyclone continues, this during Monday morning, with variable but isolated rainfall in the South Pacific, as well as intermittent in the North Pacific and Central Pacific. In addition, in mountainous sectors of the Pacific and Central Valley, there are possible fog banks that reduce visibility. Isolated rains with amounts of less than 25 mm are forecast in all regions of the Pacific slope. The indirect influence of the tropical cyclone will last at least until Monday morning for the North Pacific region.
Warning: Caution in the North, South and Central Pacific regions, with a very high probability of floods and landslides, because these regions have high levels of soil saturation. In addition to the return of the typical conditions of the rainy season, where showers are possible over these vulnerable regions.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends: • Caution due to saturation of the sewage system and possible sudden floods, as well as the main routes of the country in case of heavy rain events. • Prevention before an electrical storm and seek refuge in a safe place in the event of strong gusts of wind appearing or being perceived near storm clouds, due to the possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others. • Stay informed through social networks, Twitter: @IMNCR, Facebook: National Meteorological Institute CR and the WEB Page: www.imn.ac.cr Next report will be issued at 12 m.d. this monday
