Air Quality Bulletin

Monthly air quality bulletin

The Air Quality Commission in Costa Rica, coordinated by the Ministry of Health, brings together various institutions - including the National Meteorological Institute (IMN), attached to MINAE - for the integrated management of air quality in the country. Its main functions include supporting national health and environmental plans, strengthening the monitoring network, technical exchange at national and international level, promoting strategic alliances, and providing clear and accessible communication to the public on the state of the air. A key component of its work is the generation and regular publication of monthly bulletins, which analyse the measurements obtained by monitoring stations in different parts of the country. These bulletins present data on criteria pollutants such as PM2.5, PM10, NO₂, SO₂, CO and O₃, making it possible to evaluate trends, identify critical areas and guide public policy decision-making.
