Informative Weather Notice

Sahara dust over the country

July 08th, 2025
9:50 a.m.

Diagnosis: Increases in atmospheric pressure in the Caribbean Sea accelerate the trade winds over the basin, as well as over central and northern Spain. Furthermore, a dry, stable air mass presents a concentration of Saharan Dust, which is driven by the winds over the country.

Forecast: Moderate to strong gusts are expected in the center and north of the country, as well as over the mountain ranges, for today, Tuesday (35-60 km/h and 60-85 km/h, respectively). Dust is expected to be present Tuesday through Thursday, but will gradually decrease over the next few days.

Because of the above, the National Meteorological Agency (IMN) recommends:

• Take precautions against gusts that can reach up to 85 km/h in isolated cases over the mountains.
