Onda tropical #18 saliendo de Costa Rica

Diagnóstico: La onda tropical #18 ha dejado abundantes e intensas precipitaciones en las últimas horas en el país, pero principalmente en la Zona Norte registrándose acumulados entre 100 mm y los 130 mm en los distritos de: La Fortuna, Florencia, Quesada, Palmera y Aguas Zarcas; lugares donde se han reportado inundaciones y deslizamientos según la CNE. En el resto del país, se han registrado montos de lluvia puntuales de hasta 40 mm en Orotina, Santa Bárbara, Puerto Jimenez; y cerca de 90 mm en Pococí.

Pronóstico: En lo que resta de la tarde, las lluvias se extenderán en las llanuras de la Zona Norte, con montos acumulados estimados entre 20 mm y 50 mm en las siguientes 3 horas. Para la costa del Pacífico (incluyendo los cantones de Orotina y San Mateo) se anticipan lluvias y aguaceros fuertes con tormenta eléctrica con montos entre 40 mm y 75 mm en las siguientes 6 horas. Mientras que, en el sector oeste del Valle Central (Zona de Occidente), acumulados estimados entre 10 mm y 40 mm con eventuales montos superiores de forma dispersa.

La onda tropical estará saliendo del país esta tarde; sin embargo, su interacción con los sistemas circundantes como la Zona de Convergencia Intertropical, vientos Alisios moderados a fuertes en el Mar Caribe y oscilaciones atmosféricas transitorias, podrían mantener la inestabilidad en el Caribe costarricense este viernes y sábado.

Advertencia: Las lluvias proyectadas para sectores urbanos, pueden volver a ser precursoras de inundaciones y saturación de alcantarillado sobre sectores ya recurrentes en la Zona Norte. Suelos saturados se registran en montañas del Pacífico Sur, Valle del General, Golfito, Osa, Guanacaste y las montañas del Caribe Norte, por lo que son regiones vulnerables a deslizamientos y posibles inundaciones.

 

Debido a lo anterior, el IMN recomienda:

 

• Precaución por saturación de alcantarillado en lugares propensos a este tipo de inundaciones.
• Prevención ante tormenta eléctrica y buscar refugio en un sitio seguro en caso de presentarse o de percibir fuertes ráfagas de viento cerca de las nubes de tormenta, debido a la posible caída de ramas de árboles, tendido eléctrico entre otros. estas ráfagas pueden alcanzar 80 km/h en algunos casos aislados.

Weather Warning

Trade winds accelerated on this Saturday

Discussion: The increase in atmospheric pressure over the Caribbean Sea generates the acceleration of trade winds towards our country, especially in the north and central part. The gusts have reached maximums in Guanacaste of 88 km/h in La Cruz, 72 km/h in Carrillo, 66 km/h in Santa Cruz; meanwhile in the Central Valley: 60 km/h in Ciudad Colón, 52 km/h in Cerro Chitaría, 56 km/h in Alajuela, 53 km/h in Pavas, among others.
The effect of the wind causes humidity to enter from the maritime zone towards the Caribbean and the North Zone, causing light rains, as well as drizzles in the mountainous Central Valley, the maximum accumulated accumulations are less than 20 mm.

Forecast: The windy pattern will continue strong throughout this Saturday, maximum gusts are estimated in the range of 70-90 km/h in the mountainous areas and northern Guanacaste and between 50-70 km/h for the Central Valley and lower part of Guanacaste.
Regarding rainfall, drizzles and isolated rains are expected during the morning in the Caribbean and North Zone, the rains can manifest again during the night, amounts between 10-20 mm. Drizzles are possible in the north of Guanacaste and in the mountainous sectors of the Central Valley and the vicinity with accumulations that do not exceed 5 mm. While in the Central and South Pacific rains and showers are expected with isolated thunderstorms during the afternoon period and the first hours of the night, with amounts between 25-50 mm.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

• Take precautions for strong winds and their possible damage to roofs, electrical wiring, signs, trees; as well as in the mountainous parts of the country (national parks, volcanoes).
• Caution for boats by rough sea and very strong waves in the North Pacific, Gulf of Nicoya, the Caribbean Sea, as well as air navigation due to turbulence over the mountainous sectors.
• Avoid burning of all kinds as they can get out of control.
