Efectos de la onda tropical #13 en el país este domingo y lunes

Diagnóstico: La onda tropical #13 se localiza este domingo al oeste de Panamá, generando inestabilidad en el mar Caribe frente a la costa costarricense, lo que favorece lluvias en el Caribe Sur hacia el final de la mañana. Además, la Zona de Convergencia Intertropical, aunque desorganizada, se mantiene posicionada sobre el país durante este día.

Pronóstico: Durante esta tarde continuarán desarrollándose lluvias intermitentes en la provincia de Limón, tanto en la zona costera como en las montañas. Estas precipitaciones se extenderán hacia la Zona Norte, el Pacífico y el Valle Central conforme avance la tarde. En particular, en el Pacífico Norte y Sur se prevén aguaceros con tormenta eléctrica. Los acumulados estimados oscilan entre 45 y 70 mm en periodos de 12 a 24 horas, con posibles montos mayores de forma localizada. Adicionalmente, no se descartan aguaceros fuertes pero aislados en las montañas del Caribe, con acumulados entre 25 y 50 mm en los mismos periodos.

La onda tropical #13 estará cruzando el país entre la noche de este domingo y la mañana del lunes. Aunque se trata de una onda débil, su posible interacción con la Zona de Convergencia Intertropical podría aumentar la inestabilidad y favorecer lluvias más intensas el lunes por la tarde.

 

Advertencia: Actualmente, se registran porcentajes de saturación de suelos entre 60 % y 85 % en alrededores del cantón de Osa, montañas del Pacífico Sur, Pacífico Central y península de Nicoya. Saturación muy elevada entre 65% a 95% en la Zona Norte y Caribe en general.

Debido a lo anterior, el IMN recomienda:

• Precaución ante la posible saturación del alcantarillado en zonas propensas a inundaciones por acumulación de agua.
• Prevención ante tormenta eléctrica: en caso de presentarse o de percibir fuertes ráfagas de viento cerca de nubes de tormenta, se recomienda buscar refugio en un sitio seguro, ya que podrían generarse caídas de ramas de árboles, tendido eléctrico u otros objetos. Estas ráfagas pueden alcanzar hasta 80 km/h en casos aislados.

Weather Warning

Strong winds will persist this Thursday

Discussion: After the transit of the cold surge # 15 through the north of the Caribbean Sea, intense gusts of wind continue to be registered on the country, a situation favored by a high pressure system in the Eastern United States, maintaining high pressure values on the region and in turn that said windy pattern persists. The speeds reach up to 125 km/h in La Cruz de Guanacaste, in the rest of the North Pacific they are around 50-90 km/h and in Central Valley the maximums are between 50-80 km/h.

Forecast: Windy conditions will prevail throughout this day, maximum speeds are estimated between 80-110 km / h in Central Valley and North Pacific, being in the high parts of these regions where the most intense gusts are experienced. Strong winds will also be felt in the mountains of the Central and South Pacific.

As for rainfall, during the remainder of the morning and during the afternoon, isolated rains are expected in the mountainous sectors of the Caribbean and the Northern Zone, accumulated between 5-15 mm. At night in these regions rains can be generalized and maintained intermittently with amounts between 10-20 mm. They are possible and drizzle in the north and east of the Central Valley, as well as in the north of Guanacaste, accumulated less than 5 mm.

Weather conditions will continue extremely windy over the country at least until next Sunday due to the migration and strengthening of the high-pressure system to the Atlantic Ocean.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

• Extreme precautions due to strong winds and their possible impact on roofs, electrical wiring, signs, trees; as well as in the mountainous parts of the country (national parks, volcanoes).
• Caution for boats by choppy sea and very strong waves in the North Pacific, Gulf of Nicoya, Central Pacific and the Caribbean Sea, as well as air navigation due to turbulence over the mountainous sectors.
• Avoid burning of all kinds as they can get out of control.
