Weather Warning

Rain of varying intensity this afternoon and evening

April 28, 2024
10.30 a.m.

Discussion: The entry of tropical wave #1 is favoring an even more unstable and humid environment over our country, the above has generated cloud cover from the early hours of the day, in addition, scattered rains were recorded in the Caribbean, with amounts less than 5 mm.

Forecast: For the remainder of the morning, variable cloudiness between partial and total will remain in the national territory, light rains are possible in mountainous sectors of the Caribbean and the North Zone, accumulated between 5-15 mm.

During the afternoon and early hours of the night, cloudy developments and downpours with electrical storms are expected in the Central and South Pacific, also in the Nicoya Peninsula, accumulated between 30-60 mm, with possible higher amounts locally, in periods of 12 hours. . In the Central Valley and mountains of the Northern Zone, isolated rains and downpours with possible scattered storms are expected, amounts between 15-40 mm in periods of 12 hours.

The effects of the tropical wave will be experienced on Sunday, towards Monday this system will be outside the country and therefore its influence will no longer be perceived.

Warning: Special attention to strong precipitation events in regions of the Central and South Pacific, as well as in vulnerable areas on Route 32 and 27, among others.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

  • Caution due to sewage saturation in places prone to this type of flooding.
  • Prevention against electrical storms and seeking shelter in a safe place in case strong gusts of wind occur or are perceived near storm clouds, due to the possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others. These gusts can reach 80 km/h in some isolated cases.
