Weather Warning

Heavy rainfall for this Wednesday in the Pacific and Central Valley

November 9, 2022
10.00 a.m.

Diagnosis: The location of the Intertropical Convergence Zone near Costa Rica and the high temperatures favor very unstable conditions in the surrounding atmosphere.

Forecast: During the afternoon and early hours of the night, rains of variable intensity are expected in the Pacific and Central Valley regions, the strongest concentrated in mountainous areas; amounts between 30-150 mm are estimated in the Central and South Pacific; in the North Pacific amounts between 20-50 mm are expected, in the Central Valley there will be rains and downpours with storms with amounts between 10-60 mm.

Possible higher aggregates are expected in a localized manner. Isolated showers and electrical storms are expected in the Caribbean and the North Zone, beginning in the mountains and may extend to the lower parts, with accumulations between 25-40 mm.

Warning: High levels of soil saturation remain in the Central and South Pacific, due to the above, incidents such as small local floods and landslides due to oversaturated soils are possible. Due to the above, the IMN recommends: Caution for sewage saturation and possible flash floods.

Prevention before an electrical storm and seek shelter in a safe place in case of strong gusts of wind appearing or being perceived near storm clouds, due to the possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others.
