Weather Warning
The rains persist due to the influence of the low pressure system
November 22, 2020
10:30 a.m.
Diagnosis: The influence of the low pressure system off the Caribbean coast
North causes the Intertropical Convergence Zone to be located on the Coast
Rica, generating rains on the Pacific coast and the border with Nicaragua.
The amounts recorded up to this time, both in the North Pacific and the Pacific
Central range between 15 mm and 20 mm; while, in the South Pacific,
accumulated between 20mm and 40mm in a specific way. In the North Zone the
highest accumulated rainfall is found in the canton of Upala with a maximum of
60 mm.
Forecast: Due to the above, during the morning the rains will continue in the
Pacific slope and the North Zone with estimated amounts between 15-30mm with
maximum amounts up to 40 mm.
In the afternoon, on the Pacific slope, between 15-30mm are expected with maximum
40 mm, concentrating the rains in the North Pacific. For its part, in
Caribbean regions and the North Zone, rains in the vicinity of the mountains with
amounts between 10 mm and 20 mm with a maximum of 40 mm.
For the night, scattered rains are forecast in the country, with amounts between 10
mm and 20mm with maximums of 25mm.
In addition, the arrival of tropical wave # 54 is expected at the beginning of the night.
Warning: Special attention due to the North Pacific, Central Pacific and sector
mountainous in the North Zone and the Caribbean since they are the regions where
they await the heaviest rains.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
• Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to saturation of
sewerage.
• Take refuge in a safe place in case you hear a thunderstorm or perceive
strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as caution
by possible fall of tree branches, power lines among others.
