Heavy downpours and thunderstorm this afternoon

Discussion: The Intertropical Convergence Zone is active and close to the country, which together with local factors such as warm morning temperatures and the entry of sea breezes will be generating cloudy developments and moderate intensity rainy activity this afternoon and early evening. and thunderstorm.
Forecast: During the afternoon rains of variable intensity and downpours with electrical storms are expected in the regions of the Central and South Pacific, Nicoya Peninsula, with amounts between 25-50 mm, possible accumulated higher in a localized way. In the North Zone, the Central Valley and the Caribbean mountains, isolated rains and showers with thunderstorms are expected, amounts estimated between 10-45 mm. The rains will continue until early at night in the Pacific and to a lesser extent in the Central Valley and North Zone.
Warning: High levels of soil saturation prevail in the North Zone, South Pacific, Nicoya Peninsula; therefore, particular attention is recommended.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
- Take shelter in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
