Weather Warning

Evening rainy conditions in the country

Diagnosis: This Wednesday, the Convergence Zone is located over Costa Rica, coupled with local factors such as warm temperatures recorded and little cloudiness from the morning will produce rainfall in the country.


Forecast: For the afternoon, downpours with a thunderstorm are expected on the Pacific slope and the Central Valley, for the latter region the thunderstorm will have a localized nature in these sectors, amounts 10mm-75mm are expected, with possible higher amounts of a specific nature as well For the North Zone and the Caribbean mountains, rains of variable intensity are foreseen with the possibility of an Electric Storm more isolated than in the rest of the regions with amounts between 10 and 50mm with possible higher amounts of a specific nature.


For night hours, the rainy pattern is expected to continue in the Pacific, North Zone and Central Valley, presenting rains of variable intensity that will cease during the night period, estimating amounts between 5-40mm.


Warning: High levels of soil saturation prevail in the North Zone, northwest of the Central Valley, the Nicoya Peninsula and the South Pacific; therefore, particular attention is recommended.


Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

 

  1.     Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
  2.     Take shelter in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
