Weather Warning

Intermittent rains during the evening in the country. Tropical Wave #3.

June 10, 2019.
6.00 pm

Diagnosis: The Intertropical Convergence Zone is located on national territory, a situation that has caused heavy downpours and isolated this afternoon, the largest accumulated have concentrated in the Central Valley and South Pacific, with amounts of 30 mm and 40 mm in 3 hours.

The tropical wave # 3 will be maintaining instability in southern Central America tonight and tomorrow Tuesday, it is expected to arrive in the country at night.

Forecast: During this night, intermittent rainfall is expected with the possibility of an electrical storm in the Pacific and the Central Valley, with amounts between 10-45 mm in periods of 6-12 hours (higher amounts are possible in a localized manner).

At dawn moderate rains are expected on the Caribbean coast and northern plains with amounts between 10-40 mm in periods of 3 hours, especially in the North Caribbean and North Zone; it is possible that isolated rains appear towards the cordilleras, in the north and east of the Central Valley.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

• Caution in areas with vulnerability to flooding due to saturation of sewers, increased flow in rivers and streams and sectors with high propensity to landslide.
• Shelter in a safe place in case of listening to an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution for possible fall of tree branches, power lines among others.
