Weather Warning
Rainy conditions on this Wednesday
July 01, 2020
10.50 a.m.
Discussion: The Intertropical Convergence Zone is active and close to the country, generating unstable conditions, and high levels of humidity contained in the environment cause the presence of cloudiness and precipitation on this day. During the early morning and the first hours of the morning, rains and thunderstorms manifested in the Caribbean and the Northern Zone, with accumulations between 10-30 mm. At this time cloudiness predominates between partial and total at the national level, temperatures gradually rise.
Forecast: During the afternoon and early evening, heavy rains and heavy showers with an electrical storm are expected in the Central and South Pacific, as well as in the Nicoya Peninsula, amounts between 40-70 mm are estimated.
Isolated rains and showers are expected in the Central Valley, accompanied by an electrical storm with the greatest potential towards the central and western parts, accumulated between 20-40 mm. For its part, scattered rains are expected in the Northern Zone and the Caribbean, of moderate intensity in mountainous sectors, amounts between 10-30 mm.
Warning: Due to the rains of the last days in the Central Pacific and South Pacific, significant saturation levels are maintained, special attention.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewerage saturation.
- Take refuge in a safe place if you hear a thunderstorm or feel strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution for possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
