Weather Warning
Rainy activity during this day
May 2, 2023
10.50 a.m.
Discussion: Humid and unstable atmospheric conditions will favor cloudiness and precipitation in the national territory on Tuesday, a situation favored especially near the Intertropical Convergence Zone. Cloud nuclei near the Caribbean coasts, as well as the North Pacific, generated scattered rains with accumulations of less than 10 mm in the first hours.
Forecast: During this afternoon, cloudy developments and in turn heavy downpours with electrical storm are estimated, starting in the upper parts of the Central and South Pacific and then extending to the lower parts of said regions; In addition, scattered rains with storms are expected in the Central Valley, the Nicoya Peninsula, the North Zone and the Caribbean mountains. Amounts between 25-50 mm are foreseen, possible higher accumulations in a localized manner
Warning: Increased soil saturation in the South and Central Pacific and mountainous sectors adjacent to the Central Valley, special attention is suggested.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution for sewer saturation and possible flash floods.
- Prevention before electrical storm; seek refuge in a safe place in case of appearing or perceiving strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, due to the possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others.
