Weather Warning

Ideal conditions for heavy rainy activity this afternoon

June 02, 2020

Discussion: On this Tuesday, the very unstable and humid atmospheric pattern is maintained over the country and surroundings, a situation that will enhance during the afternoon and early evening cloudy developments and the presence of rainy and electrical activity in different parts of the national territory.

Forecast: Around noon, rains of variable intensity and showers with thunderstorms will manifest in the South Pacific, the rainy activity will extend to the central and northern parts of the Pacific, and will continue throughout the afternoon, amounts between 40 are estimated -80 mm. On the other hand, in the Central Valley, North Zone and mountains of the Caribbean, showers and showers with thunderstorms are expected, especially in the second part of the afternoon period, accumulated between 25-50 mm.

The rains will continue during the first hours of the night, mainly in the Pacific regions, with accumulated between 10-40 mm. There is a high probability of fog banks in the Metropolitan Area and mountainous sectors during the night period.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

  • Caution in areas with vulnerability to floods, even more so in sectors with recent rainy activity.
  • Take refuge in a safe place in case of listening to a thunderstorm or perceiving strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as caution for possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
