Weather Warning
Rainy pattern will continue overnight
August 05, 2020
05.40 p.m.
Discussion: The Intertropical Convergence Zone remains very active and close to the country, generating unstable atmospheric conditions and added to local factors such as warm morning temperatures and the entry of sea breezes, which have led to heavy rain and electrical activity throughout this afternoon. part of the national territory. The most intense rainfall has occurred in the South Pacific, North Zone, Central Valley and North Pacific, causing maximum accumulations between 45-75 mm in the last 5 hours.
Forecast: During the night rain of variable intensity and heavy downpours with thunderstorms are expected in the Pacific and North Zone regions, accumulated estimates are estimated between 30-60 mm, possibly higher amounts in a timely manner. Precipitation on the Pacific coast can be maintained until late at night. On the other hand, in the Caribbean and Central Valley intermittent rains are expected with accumulated between 10-40 mm, with a tendency to decrease gradually in the second part of the night period.
Warning: Special attention in the Pacific, North Zone and Central Valley regions due to the rains of the last hours are generating considerable soil saturation.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
- Take refuge in a safe place in case of listening to an electrical storm or perceiving strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as caution for possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
