Weather Warning

Hurricane Delta will continue to affect the country indirectly

Octuber 06, 2020
12:30 a.m.

Diagnosis: Hurricane Delta continues to intensify, moving towards the west-northwest
of the Caribbean Sea, according to the latest report from the National Hurricane
Center (NHC, for its acronym in English), it is located 265km south-southeast of
Grand Cayman. The position of this system is generating greater proximity of the
Intertropical Convergence Zone to Costa Rica, which causes rain activity of variable
intensity in the mountains of the Caribbean, Central Valley and Pacific regions.

Forecast: Rains of variable intensity continue in the Caribbean, Central Valley and
Pacific Zones.

Warning: Due to the rains of the last days there is an abundant level of soil
saturation, special attention to the North and South Pacific regions, the North Zone
(Sarapiquí, Upala, mountainous areas adjacent to the Guanacaste Mountain Range).

• Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewerage saturation.
• Caution on the main national highways due to reduced visibility.
• Take refuge in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceive
strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as possible fall of tree
   branches, power lines, among others.
