Weather Warning

Rains and storms will continue in the early hours of the night

June 07, 2020
06.30 p.m.

Discussion: The humidity coming from the maritime sectors and the warm temperatures that manifested themselves in the morning, favored the formation of cloudiness, as well as the presence of heavy showers and an intense electrical storm in the Central Valley, Pacific and mountains of the Northern Zone. The highest accumulations were recorded in Guanacaste with 30 mm and Central Valley with ranges between 20-70 mm.

Forecast: During the first hours of the night, showers of variable intensity and an electrical storm will continue in the Central Valley, North Pacific and North Zone, accumulated between 20-50 mm. For its part, in the Central Pacific and South Pacific scattered rains are expected with isolated storm, amounts between 10-30 mm. No significant rainfall is expected in the rest of the country.

Warning: High levels of saturation due to the rains of the last days, particular attention in mountainous sectors of the North Zone, North Pacific, mountains of the Central and South Pacific.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

  • Caution in areas with vulnerability to floods, even more so in sectors with recent rainy activity.
  • Take refuge in a safe place in case of listening to a thunderstorm or perceiving strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as caution for possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
  • Stay informed through social networks, Twitter: @IMNCR, Facebook: Instituto Meteorológico Nacional CR and the WEB page: www.imn.ac.cr
