Aviso Meteorológico
This Thursday the tropical wave # 18 will be passing through Costa Rica
July 8, 2020
6.00 pm
Diagnosis: Tropical wave # 18 this Wednesday over Panama and will arrive in the country during the early hours of Thursday. This system increases atmospheric instability over Costa Rica, and expects it to generate rainfall throughout the day.
Forecast: There is a probability of rain from the early morning hours in the Northern Caribbean and Northern Zone regions until the early hours of the morning, mainly near the coast and the border sector.
On the Pacific side, the heaviest rainfall started in the afternoon and during the first hours of the night, mainly in the South Pacific and Central Pacific regions.
On the other hand, in the Central Valley it would perceive weak rains in the mountains to the north in the morning; and isolated afternoon showers in the west of the region.
Warnings: Special attention in the North Zone and the North Caribbean, mainly near the border and coastal sector in the morning.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
• Caution in areas with reduction to floods due to increased flow in rivers and streams.
• Take refuge in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceiving strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as precaution for possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
