Weather Warning
Showers and thunderstorms this afternoon
June 10, 2020
11.10 a.m.
Discussion: Local factors such as the warm morning temperatures and the entrance of humidity from the maritime sectors will favor this afternoon the formation of cloudiness, promoting rainfall and showers with an electrical storm.
Forecast: In the afternoon period, showers and showers with thunderstorms are expected in the North Zone, Central Valley (mainly in the center and west) and Pacific regions, they are estimated accumulated between 20-60 mm. The most intense rains in these sectors will be localized. For the Caribbean, rainfall will be limited to mountainous areas, amounts between 15-30 mm.
During the first part of the night period, rains and showers will be maintained, mainly in the Pacific regions. In addition, fog banks are possible in the Metropolitan Area.
Warning: Special attention in mountainous sectors of the Northern Zone, Nicoya Peninsula, southern mountains, where significant soil saturation levels are maintained.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution in areas with vulnerability to floods, even more so in sectors with recent rainy activity.
- Take refuge in a safe place in case of listening to a thunderstorm or perceiving strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as caution for possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
