Weather Warning

Ideal conditions for a rainy afternoon in Costa Rica

August 10
11.30 a.m.

D

Diagnosis: This Monday there is a very unstable atmosphere over the country, generating rains in both maritime sectors from early hours of the day and that will be entering the national territory in the next few hours.

Forecast: For this afternoon the heaviest rains will be concentrated in the North Pacific, North Zone and Central Valley regions, which will be isolated but accompanied by an electrical storm. In the rest of the country, rains accompanied by thunderstorms are also expected, but in a more dispersed way over the remaining regions.

The rains will continue until the early hours of the night, mainly on the Pacific coast and the North Zone.

Warning: The sectors that are at some level of saturation are located in the mountains of the North Zone and the South Pacific, so attention to this region is recommended.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

• Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
• Take shelter in a safe place in case you hear an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
