Weather Warning
Rainy conditions on this Saturday
July 11, 2020
07.05 a.m.
Discussion: The Intertropical Convergence Zone is active and close to the country, generating rainy conditions from early hours of this day in the Caribbean, the North Zone, Central Valley, in isolation in sectors of the Central Pacific and North Pacific; the accumulated ones are around 10-30 mm.
Forecast: During the first part of the morning it will prevail mostly cloudy in much of the country with scattered rains in the Caribbean, the North Zone, the Central Valley, accumulated between 10-25 mm. Gradual reduction of rainfall and cloudiness is estimated in the second part of the morning period.
During the afternoon and early evening, heavy rains and heavy showers with an electrical storm are expected in the Central and South Pacific, as well as in the Nicoya Peninsula, amounts between 40-70 mm are estimated. Isolated rains and showers are expected in the Central Valley, accompanied by an electrical storm, with greater potential towards the central and western parts, accumulated between 20-40 mm. For its part, scattered rains are expected in the North and Caribbean Zone, of moderate intensity in mountainous sectors, amounts between 10-30 mm.
Warning: High levels of soil saturation in the Central Pacific, South Pacific, North Zone and mountains of the South Caribbean, special attention.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
- Take refuge in a safe place in case of listening to a thunderstorm or perceiving strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as caution for possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
