Onda Tropical #1 atravesando el país este martes desde la madrugada

13 de mayo de 2025

Diagnóstico: La onda tropical # 1 ingresó al país esta madrugada generando precipitaciones con tormenta eléctrica recurrente en el Caribe, Zona Norte y Valle Central, los acumulados más elevados se registran entre Sarapiquí, sector de Braulio Carrillo y Bijagua con montos de 20 mm a 52 mm en las últimas 12 horas.

Además, la Zona de Convergencia Intertropical está sobre el territorio nacional, aportando humedad desde ambas vertientes y aunado a las altas temperaturas diurnas, favorecen la inestabilidad a lo largo del día.

Pronóstico: Esta mañana la onda tropical #1 seguirá favoreciendo la ocurrencia de aguaceros en las montañas del Caribe Norte y Zona Norte principalmente, se esperan acumulados en este periodo de 20 a 50 mm.

Posteriormente para la tarde, las precipitaciones con tormenta eléctrica se extenderán a las regiones del Pacífico Sur, Pacífico Central, Península de Nicoya y Valle Central, con montos esperados entre 40 a 80 mm.

La onda tropical estará saliendo del país en el transcurso de la noche de este martes, sin embargo, al ingresar al océano Pacífico, añadirá inestabilidad a los sistemas de baja presión asociados a la Zona de Convergencia Intertropical, provocando que las precipitaciones en nuestro país sigan aumentando en la segunda mitad de la semana.

Advertencia: Persiste una saturación moderada/alta en los suelos del Pacífico Sur y Pacífico Central, cuenca del Sarapiquí, sector de occidente del Valle Central y Valle del General. Atención por la presencia de tormenta fuerte, donde la lluvia intensa en cortos periodos de tiempo, las descargar eléctricas y las ráfagas descendentes están presentes en estos eventos.

Debido a lo anterior, el IMN recomienda:

  • Precaución por saturación de alcantarillado en lugares propensos a este tipo de inundaciones.
  • Prevención ante tormenta eléctrica y buscar refugio en un sitio seguro en caso de presentarse o de percibir fuertes ráfagas de viento cerca de las nubes de tormenta, debido a la posible caída de ramas de árboles, tendido eléctrico, entre otros. Estas ráfagas pueden alcanzar 80 km/h en algunos casos aislados.
