Weather Warning

Evening rainy conditions in most of the Pacific and Central Valley

May 14, 2020
10.10 a.m.

Diagnosis: the weakening of the trade winds and the proximity of the Intertropical Convergence Zone are factors that favor evening downpours.

Forecast: during the afternoon and night there will be rains and downpours in the Central, South Pacific and more isolated in the Central Valley, it is also expected that these conditions will be accompanied by isolated storms. Rainfall amounts between 20-70 mm are expected in 6-hour periods in the Pacific and amounts between 5-35 mm in the Central Valley.

In the mountains of the Caribbean and North Zone there will be some isolated rains and evening showers, with accumulated amounts between 5-30 mm in periods of 6 hours. Rains are expected to decrease for the night period.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
Take refuge in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceiving strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as precaution for possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others.
