Weather Warning

Tropical wave # 46 will cross the country tonight

October 18, 2020
4:00 pm

Diagnosis: A new tropical wave (# 46) is located at this time in western Panama and will be arriving in the country in the course of tonight. This will mark a change in the atmospheric weather in the national territory to a rainier period, then a weekend with little rainfall.

Forecast: The strongest effects of the wave will be perceived in the afternoon on Monday, since it will bring the Intertropical Convergence Zone closer to the country, generating rains during this period mainly along the Pacific Slope and the Central Valley.

Even so, the occurrence of scattered rains during the night and early morning near the coast of Limón and the plains of the North Zone is not ruled out, with estimated amounts between 10-15 mm.

Warning: Special attention due to the South Pacific, mainly during Monday afternoon and until the early hours of the night.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

• Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewerage saturation.
• Take shelter in a safe place in case you hear an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
