Weather Warning
Aguaceros y tormenta eléctrica en el Pacífico Central y Sur
September 21, 2020
10.30 a.m.
Discussion: Local factors such as warm morning temperatures and the entry of sea breezes will favor the development of cloudiness towards the afternoon hours and in turn isolated but strong downpours accompanied by an electrical storm.
Forecast: This afternoon there will be isolated but strong rains and downpours accompanied by a thunderstorm in the regions of the Central and South Pacific, amounts between 30-60 mm are estimated, possibly higher accumulated in a localized way. On the other hand, in the North Pacific, Central Valley (center and west), as well as the North Zone and the Caribbean mountains, rainfall and storms of moderate intensity are estimated, accumulated between 20-40 mm.
Rainfall will last during the first hours of the night in regions of the Pacific and Northern Zone, amounts between 10-30 mm.
Warning: Soil saturation in the North Zone and mountainous sectors of the Central and South Pacific, special attention is recommended.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
- Take shelter in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
