September 22, 2020
06.00 p.m.

Discussion: The Intertropical Convergence Zone, as well as the entry of humidity from maritime sectors and the morning warming have been favoring the rainy conditions and electrical activity in the country during this afternoon.

So far, amounts have been registered on the Pacific slope that are between 10-65mm, for the North Zone there have been accumulated between 5-20mm, in addition to the sectors of the Central Valley, the accumulated ones are pigeonholed between 5-45mm.

Forecast: For the remainder of the day, the most relevant activity is expected to remain in the Pacific sectors with downpours and thunderstorms, estimating amounts for the remainder of the period between 5-65mm with a possible higher amount in a timely manner, in addition to the Central Valley rains will remain isolated of variable intensity estimating amounts between 5-30mm with possible higher amounts of a specific nature also for the North Zone a pattern of isolated rains of moderate intensity is projected projecting amounts between 5-30mm, on the other hand in the Caribbean rain probabilities remain for the mountainous sectors of said region with expected amounts of 5-15mm

Warning: Special attention in all Pacific regions, particularly the possibility of landslides in the mountainous sectors of the Central Valley and the South Pacific.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

  • Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
  • Take shelter in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
