Weather Warning

Tropical Wave # 11 will cross the country this Tuesday

June 23, 2020
10.30 a.m.

Diagnosis: Tropical wave # 11 located over Panama this morning, moves rapidly through that country, anticipating that it will enter the national territory in the late afternoon and early evening. Moving this wave amid the dust of the Sahara will cause rainfall to be isolated, but it can be intense.

Forecast: With the passage of this new wave, it is forecast that the rains that will occur this Tuesday during the afternoon will extend to night hours, mainly on the Pacific coast and the North Caribbean coast; with isolated showers between 30-40mm and maximums of up to 60mm in these places.

On the other hand, in the Central Valley and the North Zone, the rains will be dispersed with intensity varying from weak to moderate and estimated amounts between 5-10mm with maximums of 20mm during the afternoon and early hours of the night, in addition to fog banks in the surroundings of the GAM at night.

Warning: Special attention in the regions of both the Central and South Pacific in the afternoon, and the North Caribbean at night.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

• Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewerage saturation.
• Take refuge in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceiving strong gusts of wind near storm clouds, as well as precaution for possible fall of tree branches, power lines, among others.
• Attention on the main national highways, such as route 27 and route 32.
