Weather Warning
Rains will extend into the night hours
November 23, 2020
5.10 p.m.
Discussion: The transit of tropical wave # 54 over the country has caused humid and unstable atmospheric conditions and, together with local factors such as warm morning temperatures and the entry of sea breezes, have generated isolated but strong rains and downpours this afternoon in the North Pacific, North Zone and Caribbean mountains, with accumulated maximums of 30 mm in the last five hours.
Forecast: In the rest of the afternoon and early evening, the rains will remain moderate intensity in the North Zone and North Pacific, they are estimated to accumulate between 25-50 mm, possibly higher amounts locally. In the rest of the Pacific there will be rains of variable intensity with amounts between 20-40 mm. On the other hand, in the Central Valley and mountains of the Caribbean, scattered rains and fog banks are possible with accumulated less than 15 mm.
Warning: The soils remain with significant saturation levels, for which reason special attention is reiterated in the North Zone, South Pacific, Nicoya Peninsula and mountains of the Central Pacific.
Due to the above, the IMN recommends:
- Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
- Take shelter in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
