Rainy and electric activity this afternoon

Discussion: The gradual increase in temperatures during the morning period, together with the entry of humidity from the Pacific Ocean, will favor the development of cloudiness and the occurrence of downpours and electrical storms in different parts of the country towards the afternoon.

Forecast: For this afternoon rains of variable intensity and downpours with electrical storms are expected in the Pacific, Central Valley and North Zone regions, amounts between 30-60 mm are estimated, more accumulated are possible in a specific way. In addition, isolated rains with storms are expected in the mountains of the Caribbean, amounts estimated between 20-40 mm.

During the first hours of the night, the rains will continue, especially in coastal areas of the Pacific, amounts between 10-30 mm.

Warning: Special attention due to the high percentage of soil saturation in the Central and South Pacific, Nicoya Peninsula and North Zone.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

• Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
• Take shelter in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
