September 28, 2020

Diagnosis: The gradual increase in temperatures during the morning period, together with the entry of humidity and little cloudiness, will favor the development of cloudiness and the occurrence of downpours and electrical storm over the country towards the afternoon hours.

Forecast: For this afternoon, downpours with a thunderstorm are forecast in all Pacific regions, especially in the Central and South Pacific, the highest amounts are estimated, which are between 15-55mm with possible higher amounts in a timely manner, in addition, very electrical activity is expected. punctual with downpours located to the west and center of the Central Valley with rains of variable intensity for the sectors to the east, in total amounts between 5-40mm are estimated for this region with possible higher amounts on a specific basis also for the North Zone and Caribbean sectors they estimate amounts between 5-25mm in the form of isolated rains during the afternoon.

During the first hours of the night, the rains will continue, especially in coastal areas of the Pacific and Central Valley, amounts between 5-35 mm with possible higher amounts of a specific nature.

Warning: Special attention due to high percentage of soil saturation and risk of landslides in the Central and South Pacific.

Due to the above, the IMN recommends:

Caution in areas vulnerable to flooding due to sewer saturation.
Take shelter in a safe place in case of hearing an electrical storm or perceive strong gusts of wind near the storm clouds, as well as caution against possible falling tree branches, power lines, among others.
